‘The Difficult Part’
HOME
My entire life has been dedicated to Art and Design with a flair for innovation and graphic design. I became well renowned in the Commercial World of Art in Glasgow and beyond during World War Two and into the fifties, handling such things as the poster design and functionality of all the ABC Cinema Circuit throughout the United Kingdom.
In the ensuing decades my career covered a prolific spectrum including Exhibition and Display, Interior Design, Conservation Colour Schemes, Murals, Newspaper Advertising, and Portraiture.
At this stage of artistic development I spread into the conversion of Properties in West of Scotland incorporating a typically Scottish approach and character. This included Flats for students of Glasgow University and a few grand Houses in the same vista. In particular I made one into my home, then evolved it into a wonderfully successful venue for Medieval Banquets, which called on my every facet of artistic ideas and ability. I am happy to say the follow up is still an advantage even after all the years.
Since late retiral I have continued by devoting most of my leisure hours to painting in watercolours and oils and occasionally other mediums. Working mainly from my .Studio at home, I enlarged my scope by creating a Mobile Studio (which I called Ronmobile) with a raised swivel turret allowing a 360 degree vista panorama advantage all round. This enabled being able to produce my work in comfort and in any sort of weather. This I gifted to a much younger Artist more able to adjust to the mobility of my unique creation, and I do hope it is still continuing to be one of the highlights which I myself remember with nostalgia, and which was the source of a great many paintings … some which are still in my collection at home.
The varied output over the years is portrayed in the obvious love of my native Scotland, fulfilling Clients’ preference throughout the United Kingdom and overseas.
Being now in my Nineties, I am still wielding the brush and invite scrutiny and continued cameraderie.
